Work at Home Jobs

Friday November 28, 2008
work at homeReal work at home jobs aren't easy to find. Sometimes, it seems like that there are more scams than "real" jobs. Most of the listings you see online are, at best, going to pay a small salary, or, at worst, will cost you.

If you're looking to make a little extra money, paid surveys or mystery shopper jobs are a possibility, but do be careful about avoiding scams - you don't want to pay to sign up for either.

If you're looking for a more steady income, consider a call center job or a home agent position. Many companies are increasing their use of staff based at home. Either way, don't plan on getting rich - it's simply not going to happen, despite some of the ads you see.

Before you apply for any work at home job, take the time to check out the company to be sure that it isn't a work at home scam. Also, here's more on work at home jobs that aren't legitimate from About.com's Guide to Work at Home Moms Laureen Miles Brunelli.

Most of what I hear and see online leads me to believe these opportunities are few and far between.

the best site i’ve found so far is whydowork.com. They seem to have all the craigslist stuff stuff but it’s easier to search them all at once plus it’s pretty friendly.

Do you have any recommendations on sites?

Hi Alison. I am Arvin Kelly, a work-at-home-parent. Your blog is really helpful to a lot of people out there who are looking for a home-based job. It’s quite alarming that a lot of scams promising a Work-at-home job are all over the internet today. Well, on my part, I have been working at home for six months now. Good for me that I was able find a real one. At first, I was really hesitant to join the community where I am today. It took me a lot of guts to leave my job and do business at home. Now I’m working and enjoying the benefits of my current job. I would also want to invite people who can read my comment on your blog to try and become a work-at-home-parent like me.
