Boost Your Job Search at a Job Fair

Wednesday November 12, 2008
Job FairsWhen you're job searching, take some time to attend job fairs. Job fairs are especially important in a difficult job market. You'll have the opportunity to meet with employers that you might not be able to access any other way, and job fairs and career expos often offer networking programs, resume reviews, and workshops for job seekers.

When it comes to in-person job fairs, you can search by zip code to find a Monster Job Fair in one of 75+ cities. Women for Hire is finishing up their fall career fairs and has a full schedule of Career Expos next spring. And there are lots of other upcoming job fairs you can attend.

Keep in mind that lines can be long. Wear comfortable shoes, bring extra copies of your resume, and arrive early. Before you go, take a look at how job fairs work and review these job fair tips so you get the most out of the fair.

There are also upcoming virtual job fairs, including The Wall Street Journal Virtual Career Fair. It's going to be held on Tuesday, December 9, from 9 am - 8 pm and registration is open now. Job seekers will be able to drop off a resume or virtual business card, interview by live chat with company representatives, network in The Wall Street Journal Lounge - and avoid the lines!
