The Winners - Top Favorite Job Sites

Friday October 31, 2008
If you want to take a break from the election polls, take a look at the results of my favorite job sites poll. I wanted to know which sites were your favorite sites for job searching and we got lots of votes, along with some write-ins and comments on why users picked the site they did.

It was close, but Indeed and LinkedIn received the most votes, followed by SimplyHired.

I asked the winning job sites for their insight into why their sites were helpful for job seekers. Indeed's Sophie Beaurpere said, "Using a search engine such as Indeed.com is the best way to get free access to the millions of job listings from thousands of job boards and company websites. You'll receive the most relevant search results while saving yourself valuable time in the job search process."

LinkedIn's Krista Canfield told me, "LinkedIn’s capacity to be a career safety net, especially in an economy like the one we’re currently in, is extremely useful regardless of what industry you’re in. Staying connected to people that you have worked with, know and trust can be a huge help. A lot of times the best jobs aren’t posted on job boards. They may only be uncovered via close connections or relationships with someone that knows someone who works at the company. LinkedIn enables you to unlock the power of your connections’ connections. The nice thing about LinkedIn is that it isn’t ‘just’ a job site. Whether you’re looking for a job, advice on a tough project you’re trying to tackle, trying to find a great employee or land a big business deal working your connections on LinkedIn will help you achieve your goals faster and more efficiently."
