Gen Y Job Searching Goes Green

Monday August 4, 2008
Gen Y has always been interested in environmental and social issues, and the pattern holds true when it comes to employment. An Experience, the job site for college students and graduates, survey shows that Generation Y job seekers are interested in working at environmentally-friendly companies:

  • 81% of Gen Y say it is important to work for a green company
  • 79% say they would be more likely to accept a job offer at a green company over another company, when evaluating two similar job offers
  • 80% of respondents reported they want to work at a green company

In order to help college students and alumni find opportunities and to help green employers find candidates, Experience has announced the launch of Experience Green, an online community for college students and recent grads who are committed to the environment.

If you're interested in a green job (and they are available for all levels of job seekers), keep in mind that there are different types of green jobs. There are jobs at companies that work to reduce peoples' impact on the environment and also jobs at environmentally-friendly companies which are socially responsible and do their best to improve the environment, rather than harming it.

Here's where to learn more and where to look for green jobs.
