Optimal Resume

Saturday June 21, 2008
I spent some time playing around with Optimal Resume this week and I'm really impressed. It doesn't just help you write a resume, even though it does that well. Users can build a resume in Word Compatible, Plain Text, and HTML versions, as well as a creating a video resume that highlights their professional qualifications.

The cover letter module creates a variety of business letters, including cover letters, networking letters, broadcast letters, and thank you letters. You can easily create a professional portfolio with a dedicated URL to share with prospective employers. There's even a practice interviewing module where you practice with real-life, multi-media interview scenarios that were developed by employment professionals.

There's a $39 annual membership fee, which includes all of the modules I mentioned. Given how simple Optimal Resume is to use and how easy it is to create resumes and letters, it's worth considering as an investment in your job search. Also, if you're a college student or alumnus, check with your Career Services office to see if they partner with Optimal Resume. If so, join through your college and you may be able save on the fee.
