Job Search Resources for Culinary Professionals

Tuesday June 17, 2008
GigaChef.com is a brand new site for culinary professionals of all levels. There's a resume building wizard, sample cover letters you can customize, and interview tips and sample questions focused on culinary jobs. In addition to the interview questions you'll be asked, like "What is your cooking style?" there are also sample questions you can ask, such as "Where was the Chef /Sous Chef trained?" and information on what to look for when you tour the facility.

Once I got past the pig brain blog post (I used to have a pet pig, so it was a little painful to see the photos), I was impressed with the wealth of information, specifically designed to help professionals get organized (forms, directories, recipe program), get ideas and inspiration (menu ideas, blogs, and message forums), network, and and grow their career. GigaChef an excellent resource for anyone interested in a job in (or out) of the kitchen.

While I'm on the topic of food, one of my favorite About.com sites is Danilo Alfaro's Culinary Arts site. I am pretty close to being a failure in the kitchen, but all the recipes I tried tasted really good and looked impressive, as well. If you're interested in a career as a chef, there is a directory of culinary schools, along with information on tools, products, equipment, techniques, and, of course, recipes.

I just took a look at Gigachef.com. The site is really creative with the use of food as the background. I forwarded the information along to some chefs in the culinary industry.
Thanks for the information as always.
