Holiday Applications for Employment
If you're looking to earn some extra money during the holiday season, you might be surprised at how quick and easy it is to apply for a seasonal retail job. I picked up a couple of holiday applications for employment at the mall the other day and the applications are so simple that they only take few minutes to complete. All you need to fill out is your name and contact information, when (days and hours) you want to work, the weeks you are available, and where you have worked (name of company, dates of employment, position).
Before you go, make a quick list of all the above information, so you're ready to complete an on-the-spot job application. Dress appropriately, be ready for an interview, and you may just have a job offer much sooner than you expected!

Once you’ve landed your seasonal job - your homework assignment should be the following. If you provide customer service, keep track of the people you help and remember as much about them as possible. Their name, the company they work for (if it comes up in conversation). Once the holiday season has passed, you’ve recovered from the long hours and the New Year has been launched, you can sort through the list and identify 3 or 4 people with whom you established good rapport. Write them a brief note thanking them for their business while you were working at the XYZ corporation. Give them a brief (very brief) overview of your skill set, experiences. Then tell them you would like to visit with them to get advice, from their perspective, on what they see as the future trends for their industry. Study up on their industry, then call to see if they’re willing to visit with you. You will be amazed at who will talk to you - - and you won’t know until you give it a try.
