Job Search Engines

Saturday August 4, 2007
Need to expedite your job search? A job search engine is a really good way to find job listings fast. Use sites like SimplyHired.com and Indeed.com to search millions of jobs posted on company sites, job sites, and newspapers by keyword, location, and type of position.

On most sites you'll be able to save your searches and have new listings sent to you by email. Check out the Advanced Search, too. You can narrow your criteria even more and search for jobs by company, work requirements, education level, and other options.

What are your thoughts with online resume databases?

My sense is that more employers are posting jobs, then reveiwing resumes from people who respond, than are searching resume databases for candidates.

One of the reasons, I believe, is that they often don’t know if the applicant is still available or if they are interested in this particular position. So, it can be quicker and easier to screen candidates that you know are interested in the job you listed, because they have applied for it.
