Thanksgiving Eve and Thank You
It's hard to believe that it has almost been a year since I wrote about listening to a Thanksgiving folk music show on my local public radio station. I was struck then, and still am, by the lyrics of Bob Franke's song Thanksgiving Eve:
What can you do with your days but work & hope
Let your dreams bind your work to your play
I like Bob's lyrics so much that I used them to end my book, The About.com Guide to Job Searching. They remind me, especially this time of year, as we move from fall to winter, that life is short and none of have as much time as we'd like to do the things we want. That's why it's so important to consider the balance between work and life, when job searching. It's also important to be brave, at least once in a while, and consider a job or career change, if the job you're in isn't the right one for you.
Thanksgiving is also a good time for me to thank everyone who made this book possible. To my family who provided with the time to write, to the visitors to the About.com Job Searching site, to the job seekers and career professionals who shared their job search stories and advice, to my colleagues and co-workers, and to all of you have emailed me or called me to tell me how much they like the book, thank you.Photo © Adams Media
