Start a Job Search - Now!

Monday April 10, 2006
A discussion with a friend whose job has just been restructured, started me thinking about that wise saying "He who is hesitates, is lost." In the case of job searching, hesitating doesn't really mean that you're lost. It could mean, however, that you've put yourself in a difficult financial position or that you have missed out on a good opportunity because you waited to start a job search, instead of reading the handwriting on the wall. In some cases, restructuring can be a positive new start with your present employer. In others, it can mean that the employer would prefer you start looking elsewhere for a job.

You're the only one who can figure out which way the situation is going to go, but, it never hurts to be prepared to job search and prepared to leave your job. Remember, you don't ever have to accept a job offer, but, when work gets rocky, it can't hurt to have an alternative to consider.
