Dog-Friendly Companies

Wednesday January 25, 2006
When I work from my home office, I'm typically surrounded by dogs. There's one at my feet, another on the couch, and a third on his dog bed. There's usually a cat or two close by, as well.

I'm not the only one who thinks that having my dogs around is important. In a recent survey by Dogster and Simply Hired, 66 percent of dog owners said that they would work longer hours if they were allowed to bring their dogs to work, while another 32 percent of respondents said that they would take a pay cut if they could bring their dogs with them. If being able to spend time with your dogs is important to you, Simply Hired has a new dog-friendly job search tool that will help you find companies, like Amazon and Google, where dogs are welcome.

If I find a company to work for that *truly* understood my passion for my dogs, I’d leave my current position in a New York minute! I’d even be willing to consider a slightly longer commute and slightly lower pay to be able to have my dogs with me at work!

I totally agree with Linda (comment above)! I make a good living at my company where I’ve been for 12 years. I just hate leaving my two dogs each morning. If I could have them at my feet all day, I’d be a happy woman!!
