Hurricane Job Losses Over 500,000

Job losses due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have increased to 502,000, with the addition of another 24,000 unemployment claims. Storm-related unemployment is expected to increase even further with losses due to Hurricane Wilma. On a more positive note, employers are continuing to reach out to those who have lost their jobs due to the hurricane and are hiring workers to aid in rebuilding.
