A variety of laws govern employment and you'll want to familiarize yourself with these laws should you experience a problem with your employment in your workplace. Job searching candidates will find them useful, too. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a qualified applicant with a disability. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) ensures that employers provide eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA leave during any 12 month period. Workers' Compensation and Disability insurance coverage provide certain rights, too. Employees who are injured or become ill on the job are covered by state workers' compensation laws. Having a problem? Consult an employment law attorney to review your options.
